It might have been a grey and showery day in Settle, North Yorkshire, but the weather couldn’t dampen the warmth of the welcome for the Diableries team as they opened their exhibition at the Gallery on the Green – the world’s smallest art gallery. Brian May, Denis Pellerin, and Paula Flemming were there to officially open the Diableries exhibition, which is housed in an old red phone box. Roger Taylor, the curator of the Gallery on the Green, accompanied them.
Sheltering under a large, We Will Rock You 10th Anniversary umbrella, Brian May said a few words before wielding an oversize pair of scissors to cut the tape wrapped around the box.
An eclectic group of stereo photography enthusiasts, Queen fans, and slightly bemused locals, gathered around as Brian demonstrated how to use the golden Owl to view the Diableries stereo cards. All three authors then managed to squeeze into the ex-phone booth gallery, for a photo opportunity.
After spending over half-an-hour chatting with everyone and signing the visitor’s book, Brian, Denis and Paula left the green… as the rain continued to fall.
